The Care Quality Commission (CQC) are the independent regulator of health and adult social care in England.  They make sure health and social care services provide people with safe, effective, compassionate, high-quality care and encourage them to improve by inspecting services to check they meet fundamental standards of quality and safety.  Their findings are published with performance ratings to help people choose care.
